Energy & Home Performance Auditing

As part of our comprehensive evaluation of your remodeling project, we will perform an energy audit of your existing home prior to any change. This will identify energy efficiency issues that you can undertake on the existing structure. Such items might include the addition of insulation in the attic, air sealing using the "blower door" test to identify paths of air in-leakage and an evaluation of the efficiency of your HVAC unit. We have a BPI (Building Performance Institute) certified Building Analyst on staff who will perform the energy audit and provide you with a computer analysis of your home's energy efficiency and potential areas of improvement.

We specialize in working on older homes, including recognized historic homes, in order to increase their energy efficiency and to reduce your energy bills. We will analyze your home and provide you with the most cost effective, energy efficient, historically compliant set of recommendations. This may include replacement of the existing heating/cooling equipment, repair of windows and doors, insulation in walls, attics and floor, and most importantly, proper air sealing. The National Trust for Historic Preservation has a comprehensive listing of weatherization procedures and practices that you can reference and we will adhere to, as appropriate.
If you have concerns about drafty or worn-out windows, please consult us, or research the issue through the National Trust, before you make any commitment to replace all of your windows.
