Innovative Technologies

At Doman Custom Carpentry, LLC we strive to maintain knowledge of the latest building techniques and materials. We are a member of NARI (National Association of the Remodeling Industry), which sets high standards for participating contractors. In addition, we subscribe to numerous trade magazines to keep abreast of new materials and technologies, we follow the DOE "Building America - Research that Works" handbook for Region 4 (Maryland and DC) for advanced framing techniques and we will work with your building permitting agency to ensure that any innovative issues are resolved before construction starts. Some examples of innovative technology that we have recently used include: new radiant heated floor tied into existing older radiator heating system; cold rolled steel beams to replace wider LVLs to reduce low beam issues; and "flash and batt" insulation to air seal and insulate a home.

And if you are interested in "green" or sustainable building we can assist you in implementing the NAHB National Green Building Program standards or the ANSI Green Building standards. Please refer to the Green Building Advisor or the National Green Building Standard for green approved products if you are interested in sustainable remodeling.

One of our HVAC sub-contractors has extensive experience in solar heating, plus we have access to other contractors in the photo-voltaic installation business. In fact, Mr. Doman, the founder of Doman Custom Carpentry, LLC, built his first solar heated home in 1978, when we were all concerned about the oil embargo and pending energy crisis.

Multiple years of experience in building innovative and energy-efficient homes has made us a leader in the sustainable remodeling business. Mr. Doman is also a NARI Certified Remodeler (CR): a certification level that requires a high level of skill and knowledge in a broad range of business management and technical areas.
